Shop Intermediate Grammar

Grammar for the Well-Trained Mind is a thorough, easy-to-use grammar program that takes students from basic definitions through advanced sentence structure and analysis – all the grammar skills needed to write and speak with eloquence and confidence. This innovative four-year program combines the three essential elements of language learning: understanding and memorizing rules (prescriptive teaching), repeated exposure to examples of how those rules are used (descriptive instruction), and practice using those rules in exercises and in writing (practical experience).

Because it focuses on mastery through repetition, students can start with any of our four Workbook/Key combos; they are not sequential. Each workbook combines with the Core Instructor Text for a full year (or more!) of instruction, and the same instructor book will be used throughout.

Each year, students will learn new lessons and review prior lessons using the same instructions and examples in the instructor text. Students will then engage with new exercises in each workbook to practice and apply the grammar principles under study.

Many middle school students will not complete an entire workbook their first time through the curriculum.
