The coloring pages and maps are all new (and better). Several of the reading/literature recommendations have been changed because the older ones had gone out of print and were hard to find.

The revised edition was published in 2007. That’s the most recent update. You will know it’s a revised edition if it has the blonde-haired Robin Hood character on the front with a bow and arrow.

    Adrian

When will this volume be updated? Most of the recommended books are hard to find and new good books relevant to this subject were published since 2007. Thank you!

There are plans for an update, but no publishing schedule at this point – unfortunately, that means it’s probably still a couple of years off.

The children’s librarian at your library might be able to suggest some new titles they have on their shelves.

Is there a lesson plan to follow? Like what to read what days. How many days a week is this curriculum?

There is not a day-by-day lesson plan, but there is guidance on how to use it at the front of the book. Families choose which activities and additional reading they want to do, and might spend more time on one chapter than another, depending on whether the kids are more interested in samurai or Vikings. It’s okay to just read some chapters – at this level, you’re not aiming for a “complete” grasp of what happened in the Middle Ages. Instead,
you want to give the child an enthusiasm for history, a basic understanding of major cultures and an idea of the chronological order of historical events.

Four days a week is a popular choice, with some families liking to use one of the days as a project or activity day, but that can also be based on what best suits your family. If you have co-op two days a week, it might be easier to do three days a week instead, saving more complicated projects for every third chapter or so.
