Using passages and sentences from classic children’s literature, Writing With Ease Complete Level 1 allows young writers to practice their skills while absorbing the style and grace of great authors. Charming illustrations by Jeff West add a visual element that will spark your child’s imagination.
The Workbook is divided into 36 weeks of instruction with four lessons per week (plus an optional creative-writing lesson at the end of each week!) and includes an Instructor Section and consumable Student Pages. Detailed directions and scripted dialogue with suggested student responses in every lesson allow parents to teach with confidence.

I love the idea and structure of the book. As well as the introductions to some wonderful stories. However… the font that was chosen is horrible. It is so hard for the kids to decipher capital letters and certain letters don’t appear properly because the font is too squished together. Extremely disappointed when it’s missing the entire mark on the purpose of this course!

Scratch & Dent titles are complete in content but have cosmetic damage: bent corners, scuffs on the corners or cases, or slightly imperfect printing. Sometimes, there may be an updated revision for sale, and the older edition will go to Scratch & Dent.
Scratch & Dent titles are sold as is and are not eligible for return or refund, and are only occasionally available.

In the revised version, the biggest difference is that an optional fifth lesson in creative writing has been added each week.
It is simpler to have the expository writing and creative writing lessons in one book. It’s arranged so that the creative writing lesson follows the same theme and passage for the week, so everything flows, yet the creative writing lesson can be skipped without harm. “The Complete Level 1” is just referring to the Workbook, which has everything you need for the year: the teacher instructions and one set of consumable Student Pages. The Student Pages are only the Student Pages, and cannot be used without a workbook. You might buy a set of Student Pages for your second child, or simply because you would prefer to not pull them out of your book.

The PDF for the Original Edition isn’t available, but you can use the Revised Student Pages PDF instead. There is one lesson that will not match, so you’ll have to add copywork for that. It will include the SP for the optional fifth day of creative writing that is in the Revised Edition, which you can just ignore.

For second grade, go ahead and start with Level 1. They will be finished with the series in plenty of time to move on to a logic-stage program.

Yes to the 7-yr-old for sure.
If the 9-yr-old is in fourth grade, then you will have to decide in sixth grade if they are ready to move on to Writing with Skill with two years of WWE, or if they need the third year. Doing the third year would have them finishing WWS in ninth grade, leaving three years for rhetoric-level writing in high school.

The addition of the creative writing lessons is the biggest change. Each creative writing lesson follows the same theme and passage for the week, so everything flows, yet the creative writing lesson can be skipped without harm.
I believe only one selection was changed.
