The Well-Trained Mind Academy, accredited by the Middle States Association Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools, is based on the classical model described in The Well-Trained Mind: A Guide to Classical Education at Home, first published in 1999 by WW Norton, now in its fourth edition).
Offering a full range of middle school (logic stage) and high school (rhetoric stage) classes across the curriculum, the Academy offers live and delayed-attendance classes (for those in different time zones) with full instructor support, grading, and feedback. The standard class size averages 15-20 students. Courses requiring more personalized instruction have an average of 10-15 students.
Office hours give students an opportunity to work with instructors individually outside of the live classroom. Discussion boards and email are provided to facilitate ongoing instructor and peer assistance. All instructors have years of experience in teaching, tutoring, homeschooling, or a combination of all three.
The Academy is nonsectarian.

Is it too late for my daughter to be enrolled in the well trained mind academy for this fall? She is entering sixth grade. Is it possible to supplement the coursework she does at public school with courses from your curriculum? Thank you!
Unfortunately, due to massive increases in demand this summer, the Academy is full and its waiting list is full too, so they’re not able to take any new applicants. We’re sorry.
Hi, what time will the live writing courses be given? are there courses in the afternoon after 3:30pm EST?
Registration is closed for Spring 2023 classes, and will open in early February for 2023-2024. Click here to sign up for the Academy’s newsletter if you’d like to be notified of dates.
