The Facts That Stick series can be used as a supplement to any program. If the student is not solid on addition and/or subtraction facts, it would be a great idea to use those Facts That Stick books. Multiplication and division facts will be taught in Third Grade MWC, so the student may or may not need extra supplementation.

Yes! If you purchase the PDFs of the 3rd Grade Math workbooks, that purchase comes with two download options, both of which are yours to keep: the full color one and a more printer-friendly one that strips out background color and a few other nonessential color-elements.

Your child is ready to begin Third Grade Math with Confidence if he can:
      *Count by 1s, 2s, 5s, and 10s to 1,000.
**Read, write, and compare 3-digit numbers.
      *Understand place-value in 3-digit numbers.
*Know the addition and subtraction facts mostly by heart. (He should be able to recall the answers to most within 3 seconds or so. This varies depending on the child’s overall processing speed, so it is not a hard and fast guideline.)
      *Know how to use place-value strategies to solve mental math problems like 55 + 37, 36 + 8, 90 – 42, or 74 – 6.
*Know how to add and subtract two- and three-digit numbers with the standard written process. (You might know this method as “stack math” or “borrowing and carrying.”)

All of these skills are reviewed in the first few units, so don’t worry if your child needs a refresher on a few of them. If your child is not fluent with the addition and subtraction facts but knows the rest of the skills listed above, she is probably ready to begin Third Grade Math with Confidence. Make sure to add 5 minutes of daily addition facts practice or subtraction facts practice to each lesson until your child becomes more fluent with the facts.

    Lisa Coddington

    Hello!
Is there a place to download some of the items to print? For example, the dot array on p. 546 (3rd grade) I don’t want to ruin the instructor guide by tearing out pages. I thought I saw this somewhere and now I can’t find it 🙂

It shows the range of pricing available, $10.78 – $22.91, which accounts for different formats and availability.

In this case, the $10.78 is for a Scratch and Dent copy of the book – it’s not currently in stock, so the Scratch and Dent box is grayed out and you can’t choose it. It’s just like you would not be able to choose the paperback if that was not in stock, but s&d inventory is less predictable.

I’m sorry you were disappointed! If you aren’t able to get a Scratch and Dent copy of the book, you might check out our Summer Sales in June, July, and August. These sales generally offer the deepest discount on non s&d books available. If you’d like to be notified when sales begin, please click here to sign up for our newsletter.

Came here for the advertised price of $10.78 for the book, appears to be a bait and switch attempt.

We have a printer-friendly version that removes background color and things like colorful borders; however, there is still quite a bit of color on each page. When you order the PDF, you get both full color and printer-friendly.

This truly is a fun math, open and go, easy to use curriculum. I have been using the third grade MWC to review math with my fourth grader and it has strengthened his mental math skills and filled in gaps better than I expected. He is excited for math. It has become his favorite subject.
We’ve tried to do everything suggested including the book suggestions. It has been very helpful. The games are simple, yet very effective. We’re planning on buying the fourth grade level when it comes out. To continue to fill in the gaps. The concepts are sticking. Math has become a subject we all look forward to. The emails are also extremely helpful. Signing up for them before you even place your order or even if you’re not sure about using MWC. I highly recommend it, it includes teaching tips and preparation for successfully teaching math.
