Along with review of prior concepts, Level 4 increases the complexity of diagrams and introduces new material such as demonstrative pronouns with a scripted format that simplifies successful teaching.

The required Student Workbook makes it easier for busy parents to spend more time teaching, and less time preparing. Level 4 reviews all prior material at a 4th-grade pace; students in 4th grade may begin with this level. Fifth-grade students who have had no previous grammar instruction should start at Level 4 before progressing to Grammar for the Well-Trained Mind.
