Product Overview

History will never be the same.

This spirited reading of the first in Susan Wise Bauer’s Story of the World history series brings to life the stories and records of the peoples of ancient times. Now more than ever, other countries and customs affect our everyday lives-and our children need to learn about the people who live all around the globe.

Written in an engaging, straightforward manner, The Story of the World weaves world history into a storybook format. This volume covers the major historical events from the beginning of civilization to the fall of the Roman Empire. This Story of the World audiobook is a collaboration between Jim Weiss, whose voice is “liquid gold” (CNN TV), and Susan Wise Bauer, whose writing has been described as “timeless and intelligent” (Publishers Weekly).

This audiobook may be used along with the print book, as a supplement to a traditional history curriculum, or independently.

    We love it, but.....

I bought the downloadable mp3’s about 5 or 6 years ago and we still use them in our home school. However I wish there was a playlist that came with it. Some of my older children have read all the way through the books and the younger ones listen to the mp3’s. Sometimes I want to just pick and choose a section for them to listen to. It would be very helpful to have a breakdown of where the chapters are on the mp3’s. I have wasted a lot of time trying to scrub through to find a certain place. Thanks.

worth every penny! i play this a bedtime and my kids listen to it until they fall asleep.(they actually request it) this is the extent of our history at the moment.after we finish up our science curriculum, we’ll began the story of the world. we also have the activity book, which i also recommend!

*****wanted to add……. i created a playlist and added all the chapters. then, all i have to do is hit play and it will play the entire book. 🙂

  3. Question

    Shannon

Are you able to put this on an MP3 player or burn it to a disk? I guess I don’t know what a zip file is?

Yes! A ZIP file is just a way to put a bunch of MP3 files into one folder for easier sending/storage. Once you download a ZIP file, your computer “unzips” it when you open it, and then you’ll see all the MP3 files (chapters and half-chapters) inside, waiting to be played.
