The Student Pages PDF is a separate purchase. One set of Student Pages is included in the Activity Book, and you may copy them from the book or print them from the PDF for your household family. If you do have the physical copy of the Activity Book and do not wish to copy from it for your children, you can buy just the Student Pages as either a PDF or a bound book.

Hi there, If I order the Activity book is that able to give me everything the child needs in one place – as in colouring in pages and activities. Do I have to purchase the Activity book and the colouring in pages and the student pages. My child has just turned 7 and so the worksheets will be way overy his head. This will be very much have to have a high parent involvment as our child is still in the early stages of learning to read.

The Activity Book has one full set of Student Pages, including the maps, coloring pages, and pages needed for activities and crafts. You do not need to purchase coloring pages or student pages separately for a single student.

Danica –
Honestly, this activity book is disappointing. Essentially just an expensive coloring book. Yes, there are lesson plans for each chapter, but much of it are just book suggestions and the art activity directions (like how to make a paper mache vase) are poorly written. I love The Story of the World book, but this companion book is not worth it.
Also, it came in a disgusting recycled package that was all ripped and spewed recycled paper confetti everywhere.

Danica, I’m sorry the Activity Book didn’t work out well for you! While we think that activities like building an Assyrian siege tower and rewriting the Code of Hammurabi add a certain flair and memorability to history study that mere coloring books do not, we also understand that sometimes a great book just doesn’t suit every student. We do offer a 30-day satisfaction guarantee on our products.
We are always striving to improve, so please email [email protected] if instructions are ever unclear. We will help, and also consider whether the instructions need to change for the next printing.

Question
BRONWEN –
Hi there, Is there anywhere that I can download a PDF of the story of the world maps? I own the activity book, but would love to be able to print out multiple copies of the maps to put into a binder (which is much more efficient than photocopying each page which takes an age!)

No, that doesn’t exist, but a PDF of all of the Student Pages is available at a very reasonable price. If you are able to wait for the next big summer sale, currently scheduled to start July 16, that price will be even better!

What would be a good world map that would companion with this volume?

Answer Desk –
An atlas of the ancient world can be a helpful supplement – DK publishes one called The Ancient Worlds Atlas that is readily available; National Geographic and Lonely Planet both publish ones that are more suitable for upper elementary and middle school. You can compare these and others to see what best suits your students.
Ideally, you’ll also have a modern globe, wall map, or atlas for comparison purposes.

Question
Lila –
In chapter 6, page 22 under the review questions, the question asked how old Sarah was when she had her baby Isaac. The answer provided 100 years old, but that is wrong because it should be 90 years old. I am not sure if this is because I have an older edition (2006) I have or if there is a more updated one. But I just wanted to double check.

The text says “at least ninety years old” so your are right that the answer provided should not be 100. Thanks for pointing it out, I’ll report it for the Corrections page!
