I’m now teaching my fourth student using this grammar curriculum. It is straightforward and I appreciate the structure of the program. It moves in appropriate increments and works with a variety of learning styles. I highly recommend it.

Advanced content with a kid-friendly delivery method (a.k.a. minimal amount of writing) and open-and-go format. Could be finished in 1 to 1-1/2 years for 3rd-5th graders or in a few months for older students.
Some topics covered include: nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs; be verbs, helping verbs, linking verbs, prepositional phrases, direct objects, predicate nominatives, predicate adjectives.

We love this curriculum. The lessons are crystal clear and avoid fluff. I offered to switch grammar companies to my 8 year old daughter and she insisted that we stick with this book because the lessons are short and sweet and she is learning a ton! I appreciate that this is classical education.

Question
Laura Murdock –
Are there any comprehension tests/quizzes that can be purchased with material?

Answer Desk –
There aren’t any tests/quizzes available for FLL. If you think it would benefit your student, you can make your own by pulling from the exercises. You could alter them slightly if you wish, but it’s usually not necessary if it’s been a week or two since the student has done the exercise.

I have two children who need the same workbook. Is it alright if I buy the PDF once? Or do I need to buy two copies?

Press Minion –
You only need to buy it once. You can print as many copies as you need for your own family.

Question
Susie Rizzo –
Is there a version of First Language Lessons with Uk spelling?

Answer Desk –
I’m sorry, there is not. Maybe regard it as a good reason to read about Noah Webster? He is largely responsible for the differences in American and UK spelling.
