Home education is legal in all 50 U.S. states, but each state has its own regulations.
We encourage you to observe all state regulations, even if you think they’re unreasonable; they have been passed as an attempt to protect families and children. If you dislike your state laws, take advantage of the democratic process: write your senator, lobby your local school board, and vote.
The US Department of Education and the public interest group ProPublica track homeschool regulations for all 50 United States. Click on these links to learn about the homeschooling regulations in your state.
