This spirited reading of Susan Wise Bauer’s The Story of the World Vol. 3: Early Modern Times brings to life the stories and records of the peoples of the early modern times.

Who was the Sun King? How did samurai become sumo wrestlers? What was the Black Hole of Calcutta? And why was a California town named Ground Hog Glory? Listen now to get these answers and more! (Really; you just have to hear Jim Weiss say “Tokugawa” to be a complete human being.)

This Story of the World audiobook is a collaboration between Jim Weiss, whose voice is “liquid gold” (CNN TV), and Susan Wise Bauer, whose writing has been described as “timeless and intelligent” (Publishers Weekly). Listen along with the text, as a supplement to a traditional history curriculum, or independently.

This Audiobook is available as a Multi-Disc (CD) Set or as Downloadable MP3s.

  1. Question

Our family loves the Story of the World. We have the CDs so we can listen to them on road trips and in the house. However they are getting terribly scratched due to so much use. Is there ever any plans to convert SOTW to a downloadable audio book for iOS devices such as on Audible? We would repurchase all volumes at once were it an option. Our kids all have iPads or iPods and are constantly listening to great books. We’d love to add SOTW to our collection.

I do see you offer an mp3 download but we do not have any desktop computers in order to download them and then sync with our iOS devices…

  2. Question

I am disappointed by your inclusion of saying B.C.E. Before Common Error. Instead of keeping with the original B.C. Before Christ.
I’m curious as to what the Common Error is that you are referring to?

    • B.C.E. stands for “Before the Common Era.” It’s a term that has been used for a couple of hundred years…it is considered to be more respectful to non-Christians than the usage of “Before Christ” or A.D. “in the year of our Lord.”

  3. Question

I bought the MP3 files for this book (so much easier than copying CDs) but was wondering if you have an index file with the chapter names I can add to iTunes in order to make it more understandable.

    • We do! Please email [email protected] and they will send it to you.
