  1. 4 out of 5 Slow and steady wins the race

I’ve used Addition facts that stick and Subtraction facts that stick with my 3 LD kids (ages 9, 9, and 12) and now we have just finished week 7 of Multiplication facts that stick. I like the combination of teaching strategies to figure out facts along with memorizing the “tables”. We usually review several tables each morning (currently the 3s, 4s and 6s in addition to the recommended 9s) as my kids need a lot of repetition. Some of the games we like more than others, and by this point (after 7 weeks of playing the same games every week) we’re getting tired of some of them. I’ve just introduced a new game to add some variety. Some games are playable with 3 people, others work better with 2. I’ve put most of the game boards in plastic page protectors and we use different coloured dry-erase markers instead of game pieces. After the kids finish their worksheet I have them compare their answers with each other, and correct any that are wrong, so they’re learning to check their own work and I don’t have to mark them 🙂
