Product Overview

Building on the skills taught in Level 1, the Level 2 workbook is written directly to the students to encourage them to take the initiative in developing their basic writing skills. It combines time-tested classical techniques with innovative contemporary insights to give every student the necessary tools to write with clarity and confidence, and provides essential training in organization, composition structure, and research methods. Straightforward, detailed explanations of how to construct and organize compositions prepare students for high-level rhetoric and composition. Instructor text required, but all source material for assignments is included; no other books are needed.

Skills taught in Level 2 include one-, two-, and three-level outlining; writing chronological narratives, biographical sketches, scientific descriptions, sequences across the curriculum; constructing basic literary essays on fiction and poetry; researching and documenting source material; and composing internet comments with both clarity and grace. (The last one isn’t true; some things are beyond our control).

Can you start at Level 2 or 3 without doing Level 1?

Do you keep the papers from the WWS1 in the binder and add papers from WWS2? Or do you start with a clean binder each year?

I have a grade 8 and he has been writing for quite a while now. Should I start him on level 2 of Writing with Skill? I have my grade 6 son working on Writing with Skill level 1 and he is struggling, so we would be doing this together at the table.

Im looking to start a 10th grader from public school. Where should I start him? And if the recommendation is for book 1 is the pacing any different or will it still be one book per year? That would put him in 12th for the last book… thank you!

A continuation of WWS Level 1

You will need both the instructor and student workbook. We started with Level 1 and have continued to Level 2.
